The State Security Department (Castrian: Departamento de Seguridad del Estado), commonly referred to as the DSE is the official intelligence service and secret police of Verdesa. It is a sub-agency of the National Security Service and is subsequently under the jurisdiction of the Internal Ministry of Verdesa. The DSE is headquartered in Torense but maintains many active bases of operation across the country and even abroad.

The DSE has been described as cruel and repressive, with many of its main duties constituting spying and espionage as well as the removal of prominent dissidents and anti-government figures in Verdesa. DSE operatives and agents have reportedly used torture and assassination in many operations.
