Arlesian Hegemony[edit]

Year Date Event
226 BCE - The city-state of Arlium cements itself as the Hegemon following a brutal war with the city-state and fmr. Hegemon city of Cassina. Following the war the Treaty of the Cassinine Hill oversees the Arlesian Hegemony created. It also saw the enslavement of the citizens of Cassina along with the destruction of the city.
200 BCE - Invasion of Lyran Island city-states. Having been colonized by Veiantine city-states centuries earlier, the cities on Lyra were culturally similar but politically independent. The Arlesian Hegemony chose this period to begin to consolidate these errant city states.
190 BCE - Lyran Campaign is completed and a huge Triumph for Legate Tullius Aurelianus is held in Arlium.
189 BCE - Odene Campaign begins against "uncivilized" tribes to the north of Arlesia along the the northern coast of the Mare Auram. All but one tribe, the Murgrivois, would be pacified mostly peacefully within 20 years. Relatively little military force is needed. The city of Barré is founded from an Emporion used by Arlesian explorers in this time period. Will be come the Crown Jewel of the Arlesian Odene Provinces.
160 BCE - Super Montem campaign begins when six legions under the command of Legate Pontius Aurelianus, son of Tullius, march through the Mons Cyclopea. Initially the Legions settle just on the other side and establish the city of Cyclea to be their future base of operations in these plains. The city quickly grows around the initial fort and will remain even after the Legions begin pacifying local tribes and petty kingdoms.
100 BCE - After 60 years of near constant war with the peoples of Exteria Terra, Outlands, as the land beyond the Mons Cyclopea were known winds down a period of civilization begins. The Arlesian Hegemony reaches it's northern most point and furthest extent in modern Acronia
60 BCE - With the war in Exteria Terra complete the Hegemony turns its attention southward to the lands of Nostro Populi. The complete conquest however would not be complete until two centuries later due to the resilience of the natives.
20 BCE - With the consolidation of the Exteria Terra well underway the Consul proclaims a new campaign against the people along the north east coast of the Mar Aurum. Initially two legions land at two city-states that were legacies of the now ancient Veiantine Confederation. They meet up further inland and begin a series of wars to pacify the local tribes.
11 BCE - Battle of Cennogan Forest takes place in the now named Malum Terram, Badlands, which sees the Legio V Leonis and Legion VII Taurus defeated by tribesmen. This unleashes a huge tribal backlash against the Hegemony which sees several cities destroyed including the provincial capital of Tyrana. The Consul then dispatches 7 Legions to the region to pacify the tribes and eliminate the opposition once and for all.
1 CE - The pacification of the Malum Terram is complete and the Hegemony reaches its furthest point north-east and eastward.
75 CE - The Hegemony undergoes a series of major reforms known as the Lex Aurum which see the more open democratic system reformed into a more stratified oligarchic society centered on the Senatorial and Patrician classes more so than it used to be. Consuls are also allowed to serve 5 year terms rather than 2.
120 CE - Arlium is destroyed in the Great Fire of 120. Capital moves to Corva until Arlium can be rebuilt.
134 CE - Corva reluctant to give the capital up essentially attempts to supplant the newly rebuild Arlium in what is known as the Corva Massacre which ends in the destruction of Corva for being traitorous to the Hegemony.
167 CE - Conquest of the Nostro Populi is complete. Hegemony for the most part reaches its height. The pinnacle of western civilization and the beacon in the darkness of the world.
204-210 CE - Rebellion of Eowold in modern Acronia sees a large scale uprising of the original non-Arlesian peoples. 10 Legions under the command of Consul Lexus Rellanus put the revolt down but at a huge cost of both Arlesian and Non-Arlesian life. Many begin to point to this event as the beginning of the downfall of the Hegemony.
221 CE - Local groups in modern Merala begin to see the edges of the Arlesian Hegemony's borders in the south pushed on by tribal forces. The Hegemony begins to attempt a series of campaigns to restore authority however they meet with varied success.

Wars of Unification[edit]

Year Date Event
722 - After centuries of internal strife, struggle and bloodshed Arvus Tolengia launches a major bid to unify the Shattered States into a major power akin to the Hegemony and Confederation of old. His starting position in the Kingdom of Tolle is formidable and well placed.
741 - After a nearly twenty year stream of consolidation in his own realm, Arvus Tolengia is ready to begin his war against his neighbors. He selects the Kingdoms of Fiore in the south and the Kingdom of Brionne in the north-east as allies and they begin a massive invasion of their neighbors consolidating their powers before a series of marriage alliances secure one another and that upon the death of each of the three Sovereigns, Arvus' son Astolfo will become the ruler of a united Arlesia.
766 - Finally the last of the three sovereigns dies and Astolfo Tolengia becomes Emperor (Hegezar) of a newly proclaimed Lyonine Empire. He embarks on the conquest of the Lyran Kingdom and the isles before finally proclaiming the Lyonic Realms united and ushering in a new era in the region.

First Dynasty[edit]

Year Event
766 Following the coronation of Astolfo Tolengia as Astolfo I of the newly proclaimed Lyonine Empire, Astolfo embarks on an ambitious conquest of the Lyran Kingdom and the Isles. A feat that will require one of the larges amphibious invasions up to this point in history. However it will not be during Astolfo I's lifetime.
775 Just a handful of years after the death of Astolfo I, his son and successor Elias I succeeds in pacifying the Lyran Kingdom.
780-782 First Invasion of Odentia meets with relative success, capturing Madelsclaire before being routed due to internal power plays by Elias' son Sancius.
783-784 Civil War erupts in the Empire in which Hegezar Elias I is pitted against his eldest son Sancius. The Empire's second city, Alessia is torched and will not recover for centuries.
854 Massimilian I is assassinated in the Cathedral of the Flame in Pentarum, rumors abound that it was a move by his brother Giles who succeeds him as Guiellemus I. A brief military revolt by Massimilian loyalists the same year stall Guiellemus and cause him to carry out a purge of the military high command.
860s - 890s War with Acro?
890s - 910s War with Astro?
911- 933 Economic Collapse after a series of nasty wars that saw relative success but overall nothing substantial enough to justify the loss of life and material.
960s Astolfo IV is ill off and on in the 960s and fear grips the nation's power players who see that without a legitimate heir the nation will be vulnerable to a possible union with the Kingdom of Acellier in the south of Modern Acronia. This would mean a foreign dynasty could potentially succeed the throne. A concerted effort begins to deny such a possibility and it all comes to a head in 965 CE with the death of Astolfo IV.

Greater Lyonine Empire[edit]

Year Date Event
965 c. August War of the Lyons ends with the victory of Madeleine Armagnon and the Kingdom of Acellier. To solidify and consolidate her hold on the Lyonic Realms, Madeleine marries a Lyonine nobleman by the name of Oropher. Together they jointly ruled over the Lyonine Empire. The Kingdom of Acellier is incorporated into the Empire though Madeleine and all of House Armagnon will reign from Acellier's capital rather than from Lyoville. The Lyonine Nobility never look upon House Armagnon as anything other than foreign conquerors.
977-980 c. June Lyonine Empire under the Dual Monarchs wage a rather brief war against the Meralan Kingdoms to the south with a major naval victory seeing ownership of several islands pass to the Empire and that several Meralan Kingdoms become client vassals for the next few centuries.

1495 05.05 Capt. Adriano Mauro, takes three ships to sail the coast of Aestia and hopefully find a passage to the Far East, to Auchoi for maritime commerce and exploration. Small areas with natural harbors are identified along the route in the hopes that the Empire will be able to sponsor trade missions to establish small trading communities along the coast to link up with any new connections made in the Far East.
1512 05.05 Adriano Mauro, now Commodore, once again gathers three vessels to sail East to Auchoi once again but this time in the hopes of circumnavigating the world. Before the year is out however, the Adrestia runs aground on an atoll near a small group of islands and is torched by locals who then proceed to sacrifice the surviving crew to their gods. Mauro and the others are forced to abandon them in an effort to continue on with the journey.
