Within each command exist separate Departments correlated to various aspects of the command itself. Each Department is headed by a general officer and varies in actual size in regards to personnel and funding available.
The scope and resources available to Departments can vary widely based on the needs of the Air Force at the time, and the mission put forth by the Chief of Staff.
Air Force Tactical Command[edit]
Air Force Tactical Command is the largest Imperial Republican Air Force Command. It provides tactical air units to theater and regional commanders in support of ground or naval operations. Air superiority, close air support, SEAD, precision strikes, interception, and air reconnaissance are all the responsibilities of Tactical Command.

Air Force Strategic Command's purpose is the accomplishment of strategic level goals. Strategic bombing and the bomber component of the nuclear triad are the primary tasks inherent to the Command's mission.

Air Force Training Command[edit]
Air Force Training Command is a major command of the Imperial Republican Air Force charged with overseeing training of Air Force troops and the development of operational doctrine. Additionally, virtually all Air Force Officer Schools, training programs, and training methods are managed by Departments within Air Force Training Command.

Corps Level Organization[edit]
The Luftwaffe is divided into Fliekerkorps (Air Corps) which then subdivide into specialized Geschwadere (Wings) of up to 80 aircraft. Under the Geschwader is the Gruppe (Squadron) of up to 20 aircraft, of which each Geschwader has four. Divided further, the Gruppe breaks down into four or less Staffeln (Flight), comprising 5 or less aircraft.
