Granzerian Phonetic Alphabet

From Atlas

The Granzerian Aviation Spelling Alphabet, Grozyar: Grozyar Repülés Helyesírási Ábécé;, commonly known as the GRHÁ phonetic alphabet, sometimes called the GRDF alphabet or spelling alphabet and the GRHÁ radiotelephonic or phonetic alphabet, is a radiotelephonic spelling alphabet used by the Granzerian Royal Defence Force. Although often called "phonetic alphabets", spelling alphabets are not associated with phonetic transcription systems such as the International Phonetic Alphabet. Instead, the Granzerian Aviation Spelling Alphabet (GRHA) alphabet assigned codewords acrophonically to the letters of the Granzerian Latin alphabet, so that critical combinations of letters and numbers can be pronounced and understood by those who exchange voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of language barriers or the quality of the communication channel. It is primarily used by the military, and most civil aviation groups utilize the International Spelling Alphabet.

The 26 code words in the GRHA phonetic alphabet are assigned to the 26 letters of the Latin alphabet in alphabetical order as follows: Ábra, Bróker, Cárnő, Csata, Darázs, Elvtárs, Franz, Grófnő, Hazafi, Istvan, Jelent, Kabaré, Lovasz, Menetelés, Nimród, Nyomozás, Oktáv, Ököl, Párduc, Rakodó, Sólyom, Szabó, Töpreng, Ugyár, Vidra, Zongora, Zsolt.
