Clayton Raol La Fayette considered in Estheria to be the Father of the nation was an Estherian revolutionary and politician who served as the 1st General Secretary of for two terms. He is best remembered for being the final of the Confederate Presidents, and leading Estheria through the Estherian Revolution. Although born in New Cambria, his father was killed during the War of 1894, causing his Estherian mother to return to Estheria to be supported by her family. His family were of modest background, and La Fayette graduated from the Estherian University in Franzburg, with a degree in education and philosophy. Spending some time as a teacher, he briefly lived in Merala and studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma Julio Sierva. Returning to Estheria just before the outbreak of the Estherian Revolution, La Fayette was then forced back into exile in Merala. He returned during the closing years of the Estherian Revolution and was proclaimed the General Secretary of the vanguard Estherian Communist Party in 1968.
He died of a brain tumour in 1972, after only four years of leadership, despite this, his writings remain the primary ideological basis of the Estherian government, in what has become known as La Fayette Thought.
