The 5.5×48mm Axis (official RDF nomenclature 5.5 Axis, known colloquially as five-five) is an intermediate cartridge developed in Granzery and originally chambered in the FÉMC AK72, but later also used in the FÉMC UHF. It was adopted by Volgaria in 1985 and adopted as the official standardized GESA intermediate cartridge in 1994.
